While sitting in the center of the sidewalk in S.E. Portland on a pretty cold winter day, we keep each other warm. That’s what friends do.

A couple was having a heating discussion while slurping bivalves. While standing outside on Ankeny Alley it appeared the woman was winning.

She was waiting at the Saturday Market in the late afternoon sun. Her enthusiasm for the product she was selling was palpable. I could not take my eyes off her smile. Another easy sale.

She was parked next to me when I was putting something in the front trunk of my electric car. She asked “Where is the engine?” I said “There isn’t one. It runs on a battery.” She looked so charming. I asked if I could take her portrait.

This barista had just made my latte at Stumptown Coffee downtown. I asked him if he would pose for me.
